I attended an interview at this agency under some ministry. They got an opening for a position that is suitable for me (according to my study field).
But, do I actually want to work as that position?
Not really.
Since RM2k is not enough, and this agency will pay me another RM1k, hm, why not.
All the other candidates bringing some thick file containing their certs and what not. They wear this formal attire of suit and pants.
Me?
My file only got this cert of completing my high school. And transcript from university. I don't have any certs to sell me up. I wear baju kurung and look like someone just invite me to a wedding.
Shit, man.
The interview session begin!
Me, a degree holder; a guy, PhD holder; and a matured lady, senior exec in pharmaceutical company.
Yay! Inferiority, we meet again!
In Malaysia, people think that art stream students are nothing. Malaysians look up to people studying Science and Maths, engineering or medic, or stuff like that. So, when I had to compete with these two awesome candidate, my eyes started to water.
In front of four panels, I look out of the window, seeing myself working with that 2k salary foreverrrrrr.
Suddenly, the manager called me up. We met a month ago for screening session. "I want you to speak up. I choose you. You are suitable for this post!"
At that moment, I cried. "What the hell am I doing here? Look at them! They are much more better than me!"
"It's okay, just be confident."
Yeah, wow, my inferiority is cured!
Well, fuck it! I ain't gonna meet these people anymore. So, let's just be honest.
"What do you think about technology and research field in Malaysia?"
"I don't know."
"Yeah, you don't know because you got no experience in research field. You are a degree holder, not a PhD."
Agreed.
"So, why you jumped from Science stream to Arts?"
"I was planning to stay in Science field until graduate, but I am defeated by Calculus. So... Yeah."
"Oh wow, you are honest. I like you. But in life, you can't just run away from the problem. You must face it."
"Yeah I guess so." See, people don't think Arts stream student is good enough. It's sad that people
have this mindset that whoever good in maths & science means they are genius, but whoever good in
social science, or art, language, people be like, "It's language! Everyone is good at it!"

At 4pm while I was resting at home, I got a call from the agency. "Congratulations, you are hired!"
